Cot vs Cot Bed Fitted Sheets: 120x60cm or 140x70cm?

Quick answer

Buy sheets that match your mattress's measured size: 120x60cm for a cot and 140x70cm for a cot bed. Check the label or tape-measure the mattress before ordering, because the two sizes are not interchangeable.

Cot sheet size and care questions answered

How do I confirm my cot fitted sheet size?

Measure the mattress length and width, not the cot frame. A mattress measuring 120x60cm takes cot sheets 120x60cm; one measuring 140x70cm takes cot bed fitted sheets 140x70. Check any brand or model label on the mattress as a second confirmation. Write the measurement on a note in your phone before you shop so you do not rely on the furniture's name.

Will 120x60cm sheets fit a 140x70cm cot bed mattress?

No. The cot sheet is 20cm shorter and 10cm narrower, so it cannot reach around the corners of a cot bed mattress. Use 140x70cm sheets for that mattress instead.

How many cot sheets do I need?

Two sheets per bed is the practical minimum: one on the mattress and one clean spare for changes. A four-pack gives more breathing room for night-time leaks, illness or a wash cycle that runs late. If you use two beds of different sizes, count spares separately for each size. Keep at least one spare per mattress size, not per child, so a change never waits for laundry.

How should I wash cot sheets?

Follow the care label on the sheet. Wash sheets separately from towels and anything with hooks or zips that can snag fabric, and use the cycle and temperature the label states. Check the sheet is fully dry before putting it back on the mattress. Wash the spare set first so a clean sheet is always ready while the other is drying.

Why do my fitted sheets feel tight after washing?

Some fabrics shrink slightly with heat, and a hot wash or tumble dry can make a correctly sized sheet harder to stretch over the corners. If the care label allows, use a cooler wash and air-dry the sheet. Do not size up to compensate, because an oversized sheet will not sit flat.

Can I use these sheets with a Babylo mattress?

The 120x60cm pack is described as compatible with a Babylo mattress of that size, and the 140x70cm pack with a Babylo mattress of that size. Match the pack to your mattress measurement and confirm the mattress label before ordering. Compatibility is stated by mattress size, so the tape measure is still the deciding check.
